Ready or Not
It’s that time of the year again my friends, ready or not. That time of the year where the weather gets a little cooler, the days get a little shorter, and the wallet gets a little smaller with all of the holiday hustle and bustle. But fear not! I’ve compiled a list of all of the my favorite health and wellness gifts for 2019 as well as some discounts to help stretch that holiday budget a little further.
When I first decided to switch to a more health conscious lifestyle, the first thing that came to mind was that it was going to be expensive. The groceries, the makeup, the skincare – it was going to be pricey. With a little research and planning though, it totally doesn’t have to be that way! And if you don’t know the first place to start, don’t you worry.
Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas: Clean and Green Goddess
Primally Pure’s products are amazing for acne prone skin. Having acne prone skin most of my adult life, I realized that a lot of it had to do with the quality of products that are placed on my skin. I love Primally Pure not only because they are literally down the street from me, but I also know that their ingredients are locally sourced. If you’re also ever in the neighborhood, they have an amazing non -toxic spa that would make the perfect gift for the clean and green goddess (*cough* wife if you’re reading this my husband *cough*) in your life.
Some of my favorite Primally Pure products:
- Oily Skin Cleansing Oil (I use it as a makeup remover),
- Charcoal Deodorant (read more on why clean deodorant is so important for hormone health), and their
- Dry Shampoo (I’ve described it before as magical pixie dust for your hair).
And better yet, during Black Friday weekend (11/27 – 12/2) you can get 20% off of your first order with Primally Pure by using the code ” LOSINGIT20“. This is the PERFECT time to try our Primally Pure if you or the
clean green goddess in your life has been on the fence about trying Primally Pure. I’ve been using it now for almost three years and it’s done wonders for my skin.
I just recently found out about Dazzle Dry from watching Cassy Joy’s Instagram stories from Fed and Fit (if you don’t already follow her she is delightful). I saw her talking about this non-toxic nail care system that not only helps keep your nails strong, but also stays on for a long time too!
This four – step nail care includes a nail prep, base coat, top coat and polish revive. They have a wide assortment of colors to choose from.
This is another new addition to my clean green skincare routine, specifically the addition of the green clean makeup meltaway cleansing balm. I fell in love with this when I tried a sample recently. It’s perfect for those long days after work when the last thing you want to do is take your makeup off. All you have to do is take a small handful of this cream and magically you’re makeup disappears. I love how well it also removes eye makeup as well. Their Black Friday sales include 30% off everything on their website.
Vital Proteins Matcha is the perfect gift for the matcha lover in anyone’s life. What I love so much about the Matcha Collagen from Vital Proteins is that it combines quality matcha with collagen peptides, the perfect combo for alertness and gut health. For those who deal with anxiety, matcha has l theanine in addition to the caffeine, so it is less likely to trigger anxiety caused by caffeine. I usually mix mine with a little cinnamon and hemp milk for my morning matcha. .
I’ll have to admit I was definitely on the fence about BeautyCounter. Some of their stuff seemed really expensive, and I didn’t want to dive in headfirst with that type of investment. Luck would have it they have sales throughout the year and I picked up a handful of products that I absolutely love. I love the Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation because it really covers my acne scars very well, and it stays on all day in the California heat. The makeup remover wipes also clean better than any other wipes I’ve used, and you can totally cut them in half to extend the amount of use. This week only BeautyCounter is running a 15% off sale, so if you’ve been on the fence about trying BeautyCounter now’s the time to give it a try. They have some great holiday gift ideas listed on the site as well. You can check out my holiday pop up shop to shop!
Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas: The Kitchen Dweller
If I could I would sing the praises of the Instant Pot from the roof top. Hands down the Instant Pot was one of the best additions to my kitchen arsenal. It’s also perfect if you are new and adapting to the paleo diet, because remembering to take frozen meat out of the freezer can be a hassle sometimes. You can actually cook frozen meat and it comes out as if you cooked it completely thawed. You can also steam rice and veggies, as well as ferment your own yogurt.
There are different varieties and sizes of Instant Pots, so purchasing one will depend on a few things. How many people will it be feeding, what you’ll be cooking and if you need one that would make Tony Stark proud (sorry my nerd is showing). This is the version that I have here.
One of the newest members of my kitchen cooking crew, the USA pan is awesome for making sure that your veggies or baked goods are evenly cooked each time. What I love most about these pans is that they a have a non stick coating that is PTFE and PFOA free, unlike many other conventional non -stick cookware. I also love the fact that I don’t have to use parchment paper anymore. I love using mine for roasting veggies like green beans and potatoes.
I LOVE my Berkey Water Filter. It’s an investment in the beginning, but over time the amount of money we have saved in eliminating plastic bottles has totally been worth it. It comes with charcoal water filters that filter out water impurities so you can enjoy clean water all the time.
The air fryer is a game changer in any healthy kitchen arsenal. We’ve air fried everything from sweet potatoes to salmon and Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi. This is the one that I have, but most air fryers are on sale on Black Friday and is one of the great affordable holiday gift ideas for the health nut in your life.
Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas: Earth Lover
If there’s one thing that keeps me a semi – sane person on a daily basis, it’s my morning matcha. I love making them in my Healthy Human Tumbler because they are reusable, and made to keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks warmer longer. They also come with a reusable stainless steel straw that you can use when sipping back a latte. I am starting to become somewhat a collector of healthy human cups, almost like beanie babies.
I love Branch Basics non -toxic cleaning products for cleaning pretty much everything. From laundry to counters and even your hands, the way Branch Basics works is you buy their starter kit and concentrate and make your own cleaners at home. Depending on the product, you add water and concentrate and have at it. Non toxic cleaning products are so important for hormone health, not to mention most toxic health products just smell plain awful.
The streak – free window cleaner is literally the first window cleaner that actually does what it says. The foaming hand soap is also great because non – toxic hand soap can be pricey to buy on a weekly basis. That’s the beauty of Branch Basics is that you have refills until the concentrate runs out!
I’m not sure if anyone else used to be a professional plastic bag collector like my husband and I, but it starts to get old after awhile. I recently purchased some of these mesh reusable grocery bags and I love them. They are so perfect for all your veggies, making it perfect for the weekend farmers market.
These reusable silicone bags are slowly replacing those annoying plastic bags in my household. I love Stasher Bags because they come in all different shapes and sizes, and not only are they great for storing food but also for traveling. I love using them for the items I have to have out going through security at the airport. Multi functional AND eco friendly? Sign me up. Right now they are having 25% off all items on their website.
